Peter Fissenewert is a Partner at BUSE.

His core areas of practice are corporate law, restructuring and insolvency, and compliance. He is one of the leading advisors and authors in these areas and a renowned keynote speaker on the subject.

Prior to his career in legal practice and after having served as CEO of an SME group, he was speaker for the Berlin Ministry of the Interior. Moreover, he holds a professorship in economic law since 2005.

Peter Fissenewert advises domestic and international companies as well as their owners and shareholders. As an expert for SMEs, he has considerable experience in designing and implementing compliance systems. He is also the author and editor of the comprehensive standard reference on compliance for SMEs (“Compliance für den Mittelstand”).

Peter Fissenewert advises businesses and entrepreneurs, as well as federations and associations, on their corporate issues and interests.

Restructuring and Insolvency

Restructuring is a core area of Peter Fissenewert’s expertise. In the past, he has successfully advised and accompanied numerous restructuring and re-positioning projects, often out of critical crisis. The goal is to design the restructuring in such a way that it forms a sound basis for the re-emerging business operations. Where required, Peter Fissenewert will also serve as interim management. His considerable expertise and close collaboration with renown experts in restructuring has made Peter Fissenewert one of the leading advisors in this field of practice.

Peter Fissenewert currently serves as an officer in the International Bar Association’s insolvency sector.

Through his extensive experience in restructuring, Peter Fissenewert has developed considerable specialist expertise in the area of compliance and manager liability. The majority of liability issues could be prevented by implementing an appropriate compliance system. In implementing and monitoring compliance systems, Peter Fissenewert is a strong advocate for a holistic and positive approach to compliance, where the underlying values are embedded in a positive corporate culture, leading to tangible benefits in brand value and in a competitive market.

His expertise was developed in serving not only SME businesses, but also sports federations and organizations as well as sponsoring, event and hotel operations. He is one of the leading advisors and authors in this area and a renowned keynote speaker on the subject.

Peter Fissenewert is the author and editor of the comprehensive standard reference on compliance for SMEs (“Compliance für den Mittelstand”), issued by C. H. Beck Verlag, Munich, and co-author of the standard reference “Compliance Kompakt”.

Social responsibility

Peter Fissenewert holds that the successful business operations should follow not only economic, but also social objectives. Since 2004, he serves as president of the non-profit Friends of the German Heart Centre in Berlin (“Freunde des Deutschen Herzzentrums Berlin”). For his continued commitment, he has been awarded the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
